Dear Pastor/Leaders ...

Want to update you regarding our March pre-Classis Seminar, Classis, and our missional coaching schedule.

Calvary Reformed, Ripon, has agreed to host both our pre-Classis Seminar, March 7, and the Classis gathering on Saturday, March 8.  Fred Harrell and Mike Hayes from City Church SF will lead the Friday sessions - 10 AM to 4 PM.  The themes will be "The Language of Missional Preaching" and "The Components of a Gathering (missional) Church."  They are also working on including the contextual piece that we were unable to arrange with Dr. John Thomas.

This is top priority material and urge you to commit to attending.  We will charge $15.00 per person to cover some costs.  Send your checks to Don Werkhoven, made out to Central Cal. Classis.  You are free to bring whomever you like from your leadership (In fact, think this through...we want them learning about this as well to be more supportive of you), staff or colleagues you think might be interested/benefited.

It will be most helpful if you will pre-register by letting me know so I can keep record and help the Calvary staff with food/accommodations.

If you are going to stay over night on Friday, I would recommend the new La Quinta motel in Ripon, 1524 Colony Rd., 209-599-8999.   Or, there are a number of good hotels near the Salida/Modesto exit - Hampton Inn, Holiday Express, to mention a few.

Now, regarding our missional coaching clusters.  Our lead team will be trained on Feb. 7 for the next session.  Normally you would then meet in your sessions in March.  A couple of you have asked if this particular session could be moved to April, given our March 7/8 commitments and Easter being so early in March.  That is perfectly fine. What's important is that those of you who are responsible to convene your groups let them know of your intentions as early as possible.  It's equally acceptable to meet in March if your able to pull it off.

Our September pre-Classis seminary will be September 26, with John Kaiser, author of "Winning on Purpose" -  on missional structures.  Then we will evaluate how you feel about continuing the pre-Classis seminar format, and what emphasis we want to make.  One person already suggested we spend a year on discipleship.  Love to hear from you.

Another good book about being missional, how to witness to our non-believing friends/neighbors:  "Blue Like Jazz," by Donald Miller.

Thanks for all you do for the work of the Kingdom!
